What has changed, with the date

Short, dated notes: what is new on this site and in the company, and the utility rule changes that alter what a new customer should expect. Newest first. Each note links to the page that states it in full.

Three project stories published

Three pages on recent work are now under Projects, each written from the site record and the monitoring data: three independent hybrid systems for a guest house in Nawala, the diagnosis and replacement of a failed microinverter in Boralesgamuwa, and a panel upgrade on an off-grid Felicity system.

Each one says what was installed, what the monitoring showed afterwards, and what is still being watched.

An invoice can now be paid by LankaQR or card

The Pay page is live. A KTronics invoice can be paid by LankaQR from any Sri Lankan bank app, free of charge to the payer, or by Visa, Mastercard or Amex through a Dialog Pay link.

UPI, Alipay+, WeChat Pay and UnionPay also work, for anyone paying from abroad.

Four new answers on the questions page

Four answers published: what size of solar system a home or business needs, the difference between on-grid, hybrid and off-grid, which utility scheme a new system goes on (Net Plus), and the approval steps, starting with the online capacity-clearance request.

The feed-in rates are deliberately not printed there: the Public Utilities Commission revises them.

Listed in the SLSEA directory of registered solar PV service providers

KTronics appears in the September 2026 edition of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority's directory of registered solar PV service providers, under registration S00773. The directory prints the name as "K Tronics (Pvt) Ltd", with a space, so a search of it for "KTronics" finds nothing.

The registration covers solar PV work only, and it is a listing rather than an endorsement: the Authority does not recommend individual providers.

Net Plus is now the only scheme for new rooftop solar

The Ministry of Energy's directive of 11 September 2026 made Net Plus the only scheme for new rooftop solar agreements and closed Net Metering and Net Accounting to new applicants. Agreements already signed, and grid clearances granted on or before that date, keep their existing terms until they expire.

For a new customer it means the system has its own export meter: every unit it generates is sold to the utility at a feed-in rate set by the Public Utilities Commission, and the electricity you use is billed separately at the normal tariff.

Electricity Distribution Lanka takes over the CEB's distribution areas

On 9 March 2026 the Ceylon Electricity Board was dissolved, and Electricity Distribution Lanka took over its distribution areas; LECO still supplies its own. Most people still call it the CEB, and so do we.

For a new solar system the capacity-clearance request is made in the EDLCare customer portal at edlcare.edl.lk, the former CEBCare, or for LECO customers in LECO's Solar PV Capacity Clearance System at solar.leco.lk.

Nothing here is a press release. An entry is added when something on the site or in the rules changes, and it says only what the linked page says. See also the questions people ask before they call.

Planning a system?

Every job starts with a site visit before anything is quoted. Say where you are and what the roof and the bill look like, and an engineer takes it from there.
